Sarnia was in need of a 24/7 residential facility where individuals with addictions could get the withdrawal management services and support they needed here in their own community. No such facility currently existed so Sarnia residents seeking withdrawal treatment had to travel to London and Windsor.
A local, parent-driven community group, the Community Concerns for the Medically Fragile (CCMF) offers financial and emotional support to families that have a member with special needs. Its facility, Standing Oaks, gives respite care for parental relief and helps to optimize the quality of life for the medically fragile.
Since 2005 St. Joseph’s Hospice has served the Sarnia-Lambton community as a resource centre for terminally ill people as they face their illnesses and support programs for people caring for or grieving the loss of a loved one.
With a proud history spanning more than 90 years, Norm Perry Memorial Park was badly in need of an upgrade that would allow more sports teams to practice, compete and host tournaments. The Foundation stepped up to the plate and donated $275,000 toward the $1 million upgrade.
