The Story

Challenge

The Oil Heritage District Community Centre (OHDCC) is 26,000 square feet and was built in 2006. It is located at 360 Tank Street, Petrolia and is operated by the Town of Petrolia. This multi-purpose facility features two indoor swimming pools, wellness centre, gymnasium, meeting rooms, child and youth programs and a seniors program for both body and mind.

The mission of The Centre, ‘To provide a team of dedicated, professional people, working together to deliver high quality recreation and leisure opportunities to enrich the livability of our community.’ After 10 years of operation, the centre needs to improve and expand their facility to meet the needs of their growing membership.

Solution

The Oil Heritage District Community Centre established a 3-phase plan to build on to the existing facility.  The Judith and Norman Alix Foundation provided a $135,000 grant to assist with the first phase of additions and improvements, which included a new gymnasium floor, additional lockers, among other upgrades.
