In selecting projects for the Foundation to fund, we look for opportunities to do the most good for the community at large. Once we identify a need, we develop a plan to take action. We focus on results, those that can be measured and those less tangible that simply add to the quality of life for Sarnia-Lambton citizens.
Established in the early 1960’s, Lambton Fairs Association is an organization that meets annually in October following the fall agricultural fairs season. It’s comprised of volunteer representation from the agricultural societies in Lambton County – Petrolia & Enniskillen, Plympton-Wyoming, Forest, Alvinston and Brigden. Their purpose is to meet to discuss ways to enhance and improve the community-experience at the various Fall Fairs in Lambton County.
The Lions Club of Petrolia mission is “To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.” The community work of the Lions Club of Petrolia has had an impact on the lives of the people in Petrolia the surrounding area and in south-western Ontario since 1932.
The Oil Heritage District Community Centre (OHDCC) is 26,000 square feet and was built in 2006. It is located at 360 Tank Street, Petrolia and is operated by the Town of Petrolia. This multi-purpose facility features two indoor swimming pools, wellness centre, gymnasium, meeting rooms, child and youth programs and a seniors program for both body and mind. The mission of The Centre, ‘To provide a team of dedicated, professional people, working together to deliver high quality recreation and leisure opportunities to enrich the livability of our community.
Established in 1980, Gallery in the Grove is a volunteer-run registered charitable organization that fosters awareness, appreciation, and pride in the artistic achievements of both emerging and established visual artists in our area and throughout Canada. With the dedicated efforts of its volunteers, Gallery in the Grove shall, through exhibitions, education, and communication, increase public awareness and public appreciation of the visual arts.
